#1 AMAZON orders more than 1800 electric vans from Mercedes-Benz

We had a news a few month ago that Amazon bought 100,000 electric delivery vans from Rivian. Now they are adding 1,800 electric vans from Mercedes Benz.

It has been part of the new initiative, Amazon announced last year, “The Climate Pledge”. The acquisition of electric delivery vans are based on the carbon neutral commitment across the company.

The order includes around 600 medium sized eVito electric vans and more than 1,200 large size vans – eSprinter.

Mercedes-Benz stated that they will start delivering the vehicles by the end of 2020 in Europe. [Reference]

#2 Tesla’s new software update to visually detect speed limit signs

One of the features included in Tesla’s latest software update is the “Speed Assist Improvements”.

Tesla says that

“Speed Assist now leverages your car’s cameras to detect speed limit signs to improve the accuracy of speed limit data on local roads. Detected speed limit signs will be displayed in the driving visualization and used to set the associated Speed Limit Warning.”

Another update in the software is “Green Traffic Light Chime”

A chime will play when the traffic light you are waiting for turns green.

One more update in the software is some improvements in the cruise set speed. [Reference]

“Quickly adjust the Traffic-Aware Cruise Control or Autosteer set speed to the current speed by simply tapping the cluster speedometer. You can still tap the speed limit sign to adjust the set speed to the speed limit.”

#3 France Hits 10.5% EV Market Share in August

France is Europe’s 2nd largest automotive market. It showed a 10.5% growth in the plug-in electric vehicle market in August 2020. It is a 4 times growth in the share from August 2019. [Reference]

The 10.5% total plug-in vehicle share comprised 5.4% pure battery electric vehicles and 5.1% plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

The third most selling electric car is from Tesla, It ships the vehicles to
Europe for sale in the last month of this quarter. So in the September we will see a higher volume of Model 3.
