Hyundai has launched a dedicated Electric Car brand IONIQ and confirmed the production of three new electric cars in the next 4 years. Hyundai had already manufactured three types of electric cars named IONIQ. They are Hybrid, Plug-in hybrid, and all-electric cars.
They announced that they are launching IONIQ as a dedicated all-electric vehicle brand after the success of the all-electric IONIQ car.
The Ioniq brand is part of the Korean automaker’s broader strategy to sell 1 million battery electric vehicles. They plan to take a 10% share of the EV market by 2025.

Hyundai IONIQ 5
The first model under the IONIQ brand will be the IONIQ 5 midsize CUV that will launch in early 2021. IONIQ 5 is based on the ‘concept EV 45’, which Hyundai unveiled at the International Motor Show (IAA) 2019 in Frankfurt as a homage to its very first concept car. [Reference]

The next vehicle is IONIQ 6. It is an electric sedan based on the company’s latest concept EV ‘Prophecy’.

IONIQ 7 would be expected in early 2024.
